The trial against semaglutide, reported by Frías and colleagues in 2021, was open label and ran for 40 weeks1. It randomised 1,879 participants to three tirzepatide groups or to semaglutide, with the change in glycated haemoglobin as the primary endpoint, and all three tirzepatide groups met the noninferiority and superiority criteria1.
