Retatrutide is an investigational peptide of 39 residues, carrying a 20-carbon fatty diacid on lysine 17, that acts at the GIP, GLP-1 and glucagon receptors. Most of the human data on retatrutide come from phase 2 trials in obesity, type 2 diabetes and fatty liver disease.

What the research covers
Jastreboff and colleagues ran a 48-week, double-blind, placebo-controlled phase 2 trial in 338 adults with obesity, or with overweight plus a weight-related condition1. Its primary end point was the percentage change in body weight at 24 weeks. Secondary end points included the change at 48 weeks and the proportion of participants whose weight fell by 5%, 10% or 15%1.
