Tirzepatide is a 39-residue dual agonist of the GIP and GLP-1 receptors, acylated at lysine 20 with a C20 diacid. What the research covers
In 2020, when Willard and colleagues characterised its signalling, the compound was in development for type 2 diabetes, obesity and nonalcoholic steatohepatitis1. Stability matters more for a large vial: Manning and colleagues reviewed protein drugs and covered stabilisation in aqueous solution separately from the dried state2. Frequently asked questions
Is a 30 mg vial harder to store than a smaller fill?
Not while sealed: every fill is kept at −20 °C, dry and dark. The trade-off comes after reconstitution. The safety data sheet asks for solutions to be kept at 2 to 8 °C, away from light, and used within a period your laboratory has set, so match the vial to the work planned for that period.
Does a larger fill change the compound or its testing?
No. Peptide, purity specification and release tests are identical at every size. This fill simply has its own lot number, which links to its own certificate.
