IGF-1 LR3 Nasal Spray
Long R3 IGF-1 as a sterile solution in a metered nasal spray bottle
IGF-1 LR3 is Long R3 IGF-1, a recombinant 83-residue analogue of human IGF-1 with an N-terminal extension and an arginine substitution at position 3. In this listing it comes dissolved in bacteriostatic water in a metered nasal spray bottle, with the amount and concentration printed on the label. Its literature covers potency and IGF-binding protein interactions in cells and rats; a separate literature deals with the nose as a route for peptides.

What is in the bottle
The bottle contains IGF-1 LR3 as a sterile solution in bacteriostatic water with 0.9% benzyl alcohol. The label gives the amount and concentration, and the safety data sheet places the protein below 10% w/v. Benzyl alcohol is classed as harmful if swallowed or inhaled, a serious eye irritant and a skin sensitiser; the protein is not classified. Keep the bottle upright and capped at 2 to 8 °C, out of the light, and do not freeze it. The certificate gives a folded mass of 9111.6 Da, so this is a small protein with three disulfides rather than a short peptide. General guidance on protein and peptide solutions is in peptide storage and stability, and the same protein is sold freeze-dried in the IGF-1 LR3 1 mg vial.
What the research covers
IGF-1 LR3 was designed to slip past the IGF-binding proteins. These proteins hold IGFs away from the type I IGF receptor and so can inhibit mitogenesis, differentiation and survival, although proteolysis of a binding protein can reverse that inhibition1. Earlier work on truncated IGF-I had shown how much the N-terminal residues govern that interaction: in L6 myoblasts, IGF-I lacking its first three residues was far more potent and bound a cell-secreted binding protein much less well, while its receptor binding was similar2. Long R3 IGF-I reaches a comparable result by a different route, extending the N-terminus and replacing glutamate 3. The papers on IGF-1 LR3 itself used cultured cells and rats.
The nasal route raises separate questions. Illum reviewed nasal delivery of peptides and other difficult drugs, including the finding that some compounds travel directly from the nose to the brain along the olfactory pathway, with proof-of-concept examples in humans3. That review did not study IGF-1 LR3, and no reference here measured what happens to a 9 kDa folded protein on the nasal lining. The IGF-1 LR3 guide covers the compound’s wider literature.
How each lot is tested
Every lot is tested in PrymaLab’s own laboratory in Ashland, Kentucky before release: RP-HPLC for purity, LC-MS for identity, Karl Fischer titration for water, LAL for endotoxin and USP <71> for sterility. Published certificates are listed on the results page and can be checked by number and key on the verify page. The certificate covers the peptide lot used to fill the bottle, not the finished solution. These are in-house results from PrymaLab Analytical, not an independent test, and the lab is not accredited to ISO 17025. The third-party testing guarantee on this page still applies: if any independent laboratory finds the wrong compound, or less than the stated purity or amount, the order is refunded and the cost of the test is reimbursed.
Frequently asked questions
How much IGF-1 LR3 is in the bottle?
The label states the amount and concentration; the safety data sheet records it only as labelled, below 10% w/v. Where a study needs a known mass of dry protein to start from, the 1 mg vial supplies freeze-dried IGF-1 LR3 with its fill on the certificate.
Has IGF-1 LR3 been studied as a nasal spray?
No study cited here did so. The IGF-1 LR3 papers used cultured cells and rats, and the nasal delivery review discusses peptides in general, so there are no published results specific to this format.
How should the spray be stored?
Upright, capped, at 2 to 8 °C and out of the light, and never frozen, as the safety data sheet requires. The certificate applies to the protein lot that filled the bottle, so the storage conditions are what protect the solution itself.
Is the spray for human use?
No. The spray is a laboratory research product. It has no approval for human or veterinary use from the FDA or any other authority and must not be given to people or animals.
