Preloaded Autoinjector | Cardiogen | 3ml Pen | 20mg
Cardiogen (Ala-Glu-Asp-Arg) at 0.67% w/v: 20 mg in a preloaded 3 mL pen
Cardiogen, the Khavinson tetrapeptide Ala-Glu-Asp-Arg (AEDR) that the series assigns to heart tissue, is sold in this listing in solution: a preloaded pen with 20 mg of Cardiogen in a 3 mL glass cartridge of bacteriostatic water, 0.67% w/v. It is a peptide, not the Cardiogen-82 rubidium generator used in cardiac imaging. Published research on AEDR is limited to cell culture and computer modelling from one research network.

What is in the pen
The cartridge carries 3 mL of sterile solution with 20 mg of H-AEDR-OH, the peptide sold dry in the Cardiogen 20 mg vial. That is about 6.7 mg/mL, or roughly 41 µmol in the pen. It is dissolved in bacteriostatic water with 0.9% benzyl alcohol. The safety data sheet does not classify Cardiogen; it lists benzyl alcohol as harmful if swallowed or inhaled, a serious eye irritant and a skin sensitiser.
Keep the pen at 2 to 8 °C in its carton, shielded from light and capped once opened. Freezing is ruled out, and a solution that has frozen or looks cloudy or discoloured should be discarded. The trade-offs between ready-made solutions and freeze-dried vials are covered in peptide pen vs vial.
What the research covers
The only cell experiment on Cardiogen among these references used mouse embryonic fibroblasts. In those cultures AEDR raised expression of actin, tubulin and vimentin two- to five-fold and of lamins A and C two- to three-fold, and the authors tied this to the cardioprotective activity reported in earlier work1. Fibroblasts are not heart muscle cells, and the earlier cardiac papers are not among the references checked.
A 2023 modelling study placed AEDR among 26 ultrashort peptides whose computed binding to the transporters LAT1, LAT2 and PEPT1 beat that of di- and tripeptides with no known activity, which the authors read as a possible route into cells2. Nothing was measured in living cells.
Neither paper concerns a peptide stored in solution, and no stability data for AEDR in water are published in these references, so storage of the pen follows the safety data sheet. Both studies come from Khavinson’s group, the first in a Russian journal. The Cardiogen guide covers the rest of the literature.
How each lot is tested
Every lot is tested in PrymaLab’s own laboratory in Ashland, Kentucky before release: RP-HPLC for purity, LC-MS for identity, Karl Fischer titration for water, LAL for endotoxin and USP <71> for sterility. Published certificates are listed on the results page and can be checked by number and key on the verify page. The certificate covers the peptide lot used to fill the pen, not the finished solution. These are in-house results from PrymaLab Analytical, not an independent test, and the lab is not accredited to ISO 17025. The third-party testing guarantee on this page still applies: if any independent laboratory finds the wrong compound, or less than the stated purity or amount, the order is refunded and the cost of the test is reimbursed.
Frequently asked questions
How does the Cardiogen pen differ from the vial?
Both contain 20 mg of Ala-Glu-Asp-Arg. In the vial it is a freeze-dried powder kept at −20 °C until dissolved; in the pen it is already a 6.7 mg/mL solution in bacteriostatic water, stored between 2 and 8 °C and never frozen.
What does the pen's certificate cover?
It reports the in-house tests on the peptide lot used to fill the pen, not on the solution in the finished cartridge. Certificates are on the testing results page, and the verify page confirms one from its number and key.
Does any study describe Cardiogen in solution over time?
No. The AEDR papers are a fibroblast culture study and a docking model, and neither looks at how the peptide keeps in water. Follow the safety data sheet: cold, dark, capped and unfrozen.
Can the Cardiogen pen be used in people?
No. It is sold only as a laboratory research material. It is not approved for human or veterinary use and must not be used in people or animals.
