Epitalon 10mg Nasal Spray
Epitalon (AEDG) as a sterile solution, 10 mg in a metered nasal spray bottle
Epitalon, also written Epithalon, is a synthetic four-residue peptide, Ala-Glu-Asp-Gly, created in St Petersburg as a defined stand-in for the pineal extract epithalamin. Here it is supplied as a sterile solution, 10 mg in a metered nasal spray bottle. Research on Epitalon covers telomerase in cell culture and survival and tumour endpoints in mice and rats. None of the studies cited on this page delivered it through the nose.

What is in the bottle
The bottle holds 10 mg of Epitalon dissolved in bacteriostatic water with 0.9% benzyl alcohol as a preservative, and the safety data sheet puts the peptide at no more than 0.1% w/v. Epitalon itself is not classified as hazardous. Benzyl alcohol is: it is harmful if swallowed or inhaled, seriously irritates the eyes and may cause an allergic skin reaction.
Keep the bottle upright and capped at 2 to 8 °C, out of the light, and never freeze it. In water, the aspartate-glycine pair at the end of the peptide can slowly convert to an isomer of identical mass, a reaction measured in an Asp-Gly model peptide1, so cold storage matters more for the spray than for the dry vials. General advice on peptide solutions is in peptide storage and stability.
What the research covers
The sequence was drawn from the amino-acid composition of epithalamin, and a 2025 review found reports of effects on melatonin synthesis, cytokine mRNA, thymocyte activity and telomerase, with the mechanism left open2. The reviewers also noted that physical and structural work on the peptide is scarce2. In the original cell-culture study, published in 2003, telomerase-negative human fetal fibroblasts exposed to Epitalon expressed the telomerase catalytic subunit, gained enzyme activity and showed telomere elongation3. Its authors took this as a sign that the telomerase gene had been switched back on in somatic cells3, an interpretation drawn from cultured fibroblasts alone. In female SHR mice followed for life, the peptide left mean lifespan unchanged, added 12.3% to maximum lifespan and lowered the frequency of chromosome aberrations and leukaemia4. That study used 54 mice per group, a modest size for a lifespan experiment4.
None of these studies delivered the peptide through the nose, and nothing in the references here measures how much of a small, negatively charged tetrapeptide crosses the nasal lining. The primary work comes almost entirely from the developers’ group in St Petersburg, much of it in Russian journals. The Epitalon guide covers the full record and what has, and has not, been repeated by other laboratories.
How each lot is tested
Every lot is tested in PrymaLab’s own laboratory in Ashland, Kentucky before release: RP-HPLC for purity, LC-MS for identity, Karl Fischer titration for water, LAL for endotoxin and USP <71> for sterility. Published certificates are listed on the results page and can be checked by number and key on the verify page. The certificate covers the peptide lot used to fill the bottle, not the finished solution. These are in-house results from PrymaLab Analytical, not an independent test, and the lab is not accredited to ISO 17025. The third-party testing guarantee on this page still applies: if any independent laboratory finds the wrong compound, or less than the stated purity or amount, the order is refunded and the cost of the test is reimbursed.
Frequently asked questions
Is the spray the same peptide as the vials and pen?
Yes, the same Ala-Glu-Asp-Gly tetrapeptide with free termini. The vials are freeze-dried powder kept frozen; the spray is a ready-made solution in bacteriostatic water that is kept cold but never frozen, with 10 mg of peptide in the bottle.
Has Epitalon been studied as a nasal spray?
Not in any paper cited here. The published work used cell cultures and rodents, and none of it measured nasal uptake of the peptide, so there are no findings specific to this format to report.
What does the certificate cover for the spray?
The peptide lot used to fill the bottle. It does not test the finished solution, so the label, the safety data sheet and the storage conditions are what describe the contents after filling.
Is the spray for human use?
No. It is sold for laboratory research only and is not approved for human or veterinary use by the FDA or any other authority. It must not be given to people or animals.
